Is SnipZip free?
Yes. ZIP creation, archive browsing and extraction, password-protected archive browsing and extraction, and Finder integration are free.
SnipZip Pro is an optional one-time purchase that adds advanced archive features. There is no subscription.
Which archive formats can SnipZip open?
SnipZip can open, browse, and extract more than 20 archive formats, including ZIP, 7Z, RAR, TAR, ISO, and CAB. ZIP creation is included for free, while SnipZip Pro adds more creation formats.
Do my files leave my Mac?
No. SnipZip processes your files locally inside the macOS sandbox. Your archives are not uploaded, and the app does not require an account or include in-app analytics.
How do I enable the SnipZip Finder extension?
- Open SnipZip and select the Settings button.
- Select Finder Integration.
- Select Open Extensions Settings.
- In System Settings, find SnipZip under General → Login Items & Extensions.
- Open SnipZip’s extensions and turn the switch on.
Depending on your macOS version, the extension may be shown with the component name “File Provider.”
How do I add SnipZip to the Finder toolbar?
- Open a Finder window.
- Control-click an empty area of the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar.
- Drag the SnipZip icon into the toolbar.
- Select Done.
